San Jose, CA Events:

  • Black History Month Kick-Off

    February 5, 2022, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    The Black History Month Kick-Off is a virtual program that showcases and connects local Black authors, artists, guest speakers, and musicians to members of the community. Our keynote speaker is Sarah Elizabeth Lewis, Harvard professor, the vision and justice project. Highlights: Tabia with Venus Jones, and Demone Carter

  • Black History Month Jazz Storytime

    February 7, 2024, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

    Join us for a special after-school storytime where we will celebrate the power and joy of jazz music and the remarkable musicians who create it. This program is geared for school-aged children and their parents/caregivers.

    Please note that this will be an indoor program. All attendees will be required to observe the Library's Safety Guidelines.

    Free, with limited capacity. Seating for Storytime is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of tickets will be distributed at the Information Desk 30 minutes prior to the start of Storytime.

  • 9th Annual Black History Month

    The exhibit runs February 1 through 28, 2023

    "Through their Lens" A Celebration of African American Photographers. 

    February 4th from 1 pm to 4 pm, meet Mike Fair, African Drum Percussionist, play traditional drums as he blesses the exhibit.

    February 18th from 1 pm to 4 pm, meet Louise Shields, Producer and Curator of this exhibit. Lousie will show you an exhibit of amazing and creative African American Photographers.
