National Child Abuse Prevention Month

  • Go Kids, Inc. 885 Moro Drive Gilroy, CA, 95020 United States (map)

Get ready to dive into two more critical protective factors that can help prevent child abuse. As we continue to raise awareness during National Child Abuse Prevention Month, we'll be focusing on factors 3 and 4 that can make all the difference. Let's explore the ways we can protect children and ensure their safety with these valuable resources.

Protective Factor 3: Parental Resilience

Resilience is key for parents to overcome the inevitable challenges of everyday life and occasional crises. Yet, various stressors ranging from family history of abuse to financial instability can weaken a parent's ability to cope effectively. Fortunately, there are resources available to help parents fortify their inner strength and flexibility. These resources empower caregivers to bounce back stronger and better equipped to face any obstacle standing in the way of raising happy and healthy children.

Protective Factor 4: Social connections

Having a supportive network of friends, family, and neighbors can make a world of difference for parents and caregivers. They can rely on these trusted individuals for emotional support, guidance, and practical assistance when needed. Research has found that those who lack a strong social network may be at greater risk of mistreating their children. Thankfully, there are plenty of resources available to help families build and strengthen their social connections. By tapping into these resources, parents can create a happier, healthier home for themselves and their children.
